Batticaloa Light house

Today my friend suggest me go to the Light house Batticaloa.i first searched about it in google.i amazed when i saw the pictures of it. so i decided to go there.yes that was a good decision.its very beautiful place in batticaloa.its around 5 km from Batticaloa city, on Bar Road and near the estuary in Palameenmadu You can access to it by taking Lake Road (also called Munich Victoria Friendship Road) near Kallady Bridge and proceeding along Sinna Uppodai Lagoon for around 4 km. It is a very nice area for cycling or walking.

I search about its history too.it was built in 1913 by the British and is 28 meters in height. Though narrower than most in the island once on top you are treated to one of the most magnificent panoramas of the endless Sea and the central mountain with Thoppigala being the highlight.

I had lot of fun with my friends and i have a boat safari it was wonderful memory. The boat, which you can rent at the park, will take you to Bone Island, Kallady Bridge, or Batticaloa Fort, but they can also take you across the water to the sandy stretch of land that is part of the Navalady area.
that was amazing boat trip i ever had because the water was full of jellyfish. These palm-sized, whitish, gelatinous creatures bobbed in the waves around the boat in their dozens. It was fascinating to see. Apparently, it’s something that happens often. The jellyfish often end up fouling the fishermen’s nets and have to be picked off by hand, so they are not all that poisonous, though according to some accounts they do cause itching and hives, so it’s probably better not to play around with them. They also end up washed up on the beach, which makes swimming a bit difficult.

i am sure this place is a best tourist spot for have many good memories with friends and family.i will definitely visit this place again asap.

Batticaloa gandhi park

Today i went to the famous park in Batticaloa.its known as Gandhi park it has amazing lagoon view and nature surrounded  as well. This lovely modern park along Old Batti's waterfront is popular with strolling couples and includes features such as the Batticaloa Gate, which was a 19th-century welcoming arch to the harbour. There is a golden statue of Mahatma Gandhi built to honor this great Indian leader. A few steps away from the door, the statue of Reverend William Ault was the first Methodist missionary to disembark in Batticaloa in 1814. Batticaloa Gate is one of the extreme points of boat rides from the lagoon. Its large park has long walkways with many features of interest that are perfect for family picnics, gatherings and  fitness activities. As it is located on the waterfront of the Batticaloa Lagoon, you could also witness some fishermen and other small boats going about their daily runs. Coupled with the history of the Batticaloa Gate, the park is a mixture of everything you need, to relax and reflect on the interesting culture and lifestyles of the people of Batticaloa. If you are lucky you could also see some exotic bird species hanging out on the treetops.

its belongs to Batticaloa Municipal council. they maintain that park clean.Because its a major attraction for local and foreign tourists. This is a perfect hangout spot to enjoy the views of the lagoon, and small canoes with fishermen.more over near that park there is a public library and small museum.i think Batticaloa gate and Gandhi park still stands high in the list of places visited by a lot of people.because i saw many tourists there.its good destination for have good time with friends and family.

KALLADY BRIDGE

Yesterday i went to kallady bridge, batticaloa. its a road bridge and its part of the A4 Colombo-Batticaloa highway.its helps to cross the batticaloa lagoon in batticaloa its also known as Lady mannig bridge.its one of the old bridges in srilanka.after i research about that bridge and everyone said this bridge is build by British in 1924.

another interesting fact is Batticaloa's singing fish legend is associated with the bridge. In 1954 two American priests from St. Michael's College, Batticaloa, Rev. Fr. Lang and Rev. Fr. Moran, recorded fishes singing under the bridge. The recording was broadcast on Radio Ceylon in the 1960s and  Local folklore claims that an intriguing sound emanates from the bridge, and is believed to be singing fish from the depths of the Batticaloa Lagoon. There have been many expeditions to find out the true reason, however, there is no conclusive evidence to say that the sound comes from the activity of the marine ecosystem near the bridge. It still is a major attraction to many who want to witness a unique natural phenomenon.after hear that i feel sad because i missed to hear the song of the singing fish.in 2013 they build new bridge.but old bidge also very strong construction but due to the traffic issues the build a new bridge.i think Lady manning bridge is the oldest and longest iron bridge in srilanka.i am not sure about it but in my experince i never saw such old strong iron construction.now its not used for the vehicle travel but still its used by local peoples for fishing and now its a famous tourist spot in batticaloa. So batticaloa municipal council build a children park and market area near the bridge.many local and foreign tourist visits the bridge daily because its one of the landmark of batticaloa.
